One trip you can't miss while you are in Seward, or Alaska for that matter, is a day cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park. These trips are without a doubt Alaska's most popular wildlife and glacier cruises. You will almost always see abundant marine wildlife like sea otters, puffins, sea lions, and even whales. Wildlife aside, the scenery and tidewater glaciers are spectacular. We recommend Kenai Fjords Tours, the company widely recognized as the leading day boat operator in the area. They have an excellent staff and safety record, and will make sure your Kenai Fjords cruise is one of the highlights of your Alaska vacation.
There are a number of different Kenai Fjords cruises to choose from. We generally recommend the "National Park" cruises which will take you all the way out to Kenai Fjords National Park and offer the best mix of glaciers, scenery, and wildlife. These trips generally take about six hours and travel about 110 miles roundtrip. Lunch is included and several departures per day are offered during the summer months. Our favorite trip is the National Park cruise with a stop at Fox Island. This 8 hour trips add on a popular stop at Fox Island for a scrumptious Alaska salmon bake lunch. Other trips include the extensive 9 ½ hour Northwestern Fjord cruise or the shorter Resurrection Bay Wildlife cruises.
Save some time in Seward for other great activities like kayaking, the Alaska Sealife Center or a short hike at Exit Glacier.
